Biopsy, i.e. the removal of a small piece of tissue from a suspicious lump, is of decisive importance in the diagnosis and prevention of breast diseases. Breast biopsy (core biopsy) is a simple procedure performed with local anesthesia and does not require a surgical incision as it is performed with a special biopsy needle, guided by ultrasound. This needle is inserted into the center of the suspected area, removing small sections of tissue from the center of the lesion. The tissues are then examined, so the doctor can determine if the lesion is benign or malignant. The advantage of this technique is that patients do not undergo surgery. Dr Papadogiannakis has the appropriate training and knowledge and he is able to proceed to the correct diagnosis of any lesions and guide the patients in the next steps of the treatment.
